Since 2017 and beyond
We are 150CLD and this is our story, so far.
Bridging the gap between technical expertise and strong leadership
Ensuring that the industry’s best projects are not just well-designed but well-led.
At 150CLD, we equip construction and engineering professionals with the leadership, project management and problem-solving skills needed to build better, reduce waste and drive projects forward with confidence.
Whether you’re stepping into a supervisory role, leading complex infrastructure projects, or transitioning from the military into the sector, our training and coaching help you navigate the industry’s challenges with clarity and capability.
Most leadership training out there doesn’t reflect the realities of running a construction site, managing stakeholders or keeping teams aligned under pressure. That’s where we come in.
What we do
Across all levels of leadership in construction and civil engineering
We work with construction firms, infrastructure projects, military leavers and engineering professionals who are ready to lead with confidence—because great projects don’t just need great plans, they need great people to bring them to life.

What guides us
Our values & beliefs
These principles shape how we design our programmes, work with clients and help leaders turn learning into better project delivery.
01
Practical Leadership, Not Theory
We believe that leadership isn’t about corporate jargon or textbook strategies—it’s about real-world decisions, made in real-time, under real pressure. Our training is built for the challenges of the construction and engineering industries, ensuring that every lesson translates directly to site and project management.
02
Building Capability, Not Just Compliance
Too often, leadership and project management training focus on ticking boxes. We focus on building competence, confidence, and capability, so leaders at all levels—whether supervisors, project managers or senior executives—can think critically, lead effectively and drive success on their projects.
03
No-Nonsense, Straight-Talking Training
Construction leaders don’t have time for fluff. We cut through the noise and deliver practical, actionable strategies that can be used immediately to improve leadership, decision-making and project outcomes.
04
Collaboration Over Hierarchy
The best construction leaders know that it’s not about telling people what to do—it’s about bringing people together. We help teams break down silos, improve communication and align towards common goals, reducing friction and project waste.
05
Bridging the Gap Between Technical & Human
Strong technical skills alone don’t make great leaders. Neither does charisma. Leadership in construction requires a blend of technical understanding, strategic thinking and people management—we help professionals master all three.
06
Resilience, Adaptability & Continuous Learning
Great leaders don’t just manage projects—they adapt to change, anticipate challenges and create environments where teams thrive under pressure. We embed adaptability and problem-solving into everything we teach, because construction is rarely predictable.
07
Helping Others Succeed
Leadership isn’t about individual success—it’s about developing others, fostering accountability and ensuring teams perform at their best. We equip leaders with the skills to inspire, guide and empower their teams to deliver outstanding results.
08
Military Precision Meets Construction Practicality
Founded by those who have led in both military and construction environments, our training is built on structured decision-making, strategic planning and leadership under pressure. We take the discipline and strategic thinking from military leadership and apply it to construction’s unique challenges.
Meet the team
At 150CLD, we shape leaders, not train them.

Colin Tomlinson
Founder & Managing Director
Colin Tomlinson is a leadership and project management specialist with a career spanning military service, construction and high-performance training. As the founder of 150CLD, he helps leaders in construction and engineering develop the skills they need to navigate complex projects, drive efficiency and build cohesive teams.
Colin’s approach is rooted in real-world experience. After a distinguished career in the British Army, he transitioned into the construction sector, where he quickly saw the industry’s biggest challenge—technical skills alone weren’t enough. The real difference between a smooth-running project and a chaotic one? Leadership, communication and the ability to get people working together effectively.
Since founding 150CLD, Colin has worked with major infrastructure firms, engineering leaders and ex-military professionals moving into construction careers. His leadership programmes focus on reducing rework, improving decision-making and creating high-performing teams—helping professionals not just lead, but lead well.
Colin is also the host of the Site Story podcast, where he dives into the human side of construction and engineering, exploring how different roles interact, the challenges they face and what makes a great leader in the industry.
Colin has appeared as a speaker at Digital Construction Week 2026 and the South East Construction Expo 2025, presenting on the leadership and people stages.
When he’s not training the next generation of construction leaders, you’ll find Colin sailing, mentoring veterans or reminding project managers that firefighting shouldn’t be a daily job requirement.
